THE YUBA
Posted by Clay Carlson on
A friend mentioned they had a connection to an airbnb that sat on it's own private section of the Yuba River. I'd heard stories of the magical smooth white rocks that sat upon this flowing crystal stream. Surely that sounded made up. Naturally, we gathered a group of our closest friends and decided to go see for ourselves.
DAY 1
We journeyed out to a nearby bridge we heard of that was known for cliff jumping. Do I jump off cliffs? No. Sounds awesome though.
We claimed our little plot of land for the afternoon and tested the water.
Holy shit, it was cold.
THAT LOUNGE LIFE
Our friends brought their new inflatable lounger bags "The Chillbo Baggins" for some product testing. And testing we did.
They were definitely more "chill" than laying on pure rocks. Also, very useful as a boat to carry us across the chilly water.
LAST LIGHT
As the sun began to set, we wandered down the river bank in search of some new landscape.
MAJOR DRONE FAIL
To cap our epic day off...we needed an epic ending.
So we set up a shot of all of us lounging around this waterfall we found.
Then we may or may not of accidentally crashed our Inspire 1 drone into a rock
and it may or may not of spiraled into the waterfall and got sucked down into the bottom of the river somewhere that was too dangerous to seek out...
Below is the last bit of footage taken from the app's cloud library.
RIP.
DAY 2
Today was the day we got to explore our secluded section of the Yuba. Let's just say at the end of the rocky road was a reward.
Our own little piece of heaven.
THE CHILLBO COOLER
Blow up chair turned floating cooler.
It just made SO much sense. Highlight of the weekend. Maybe highlight of my life.
The Chillbo's worked out in our favor. Since the water was a little too chilly to bathe in, we used them as our own personal boats. With a little help from our friends of course.
We explored different inflatable water sofa tactics.
NATURE AT IT'S FINEST
All the components were in it's right place. Crystal water, sandy bottom, and rocks that were as smooth as a baby's butt.
We ended the day winding down with some yoga and a BBQ on a deck overlooking the landscape. No complaints here.
Conclusion: The Yuba consists of magical smooth white rocks that sat upon a flowing crystal stream.
Now when is the next one?
WELL THIS ABOUT SUMS IT UP
Check out some video snippets from this adventure.
Until next time Yuba. Until next time.
